From October 18-20, 2008, the IATEFL YL-SIG and the British Council working in partnership with China BFLE, FLTRP will host the international conference: English for Young Learners: putting theory into effective, dynamic practice. Putting theory into effective practice is a challenge that many young learner professionals acknowledge but don't fully explore. How can theory be put into effective and dynamic practice in the YL classroom? And how does one define effective? Throughout the conference, we will examine current issues surrounding effective practice and the implications for the YL classroom. What are the issues facing the young learner teacher in ELT contexts? How can we make effective practice come alive for young learners? The what, why and how of effective, dynamic practice in the ESL environment will be explored from different perspectives. By the end of the event, all participants will have considered various forms of effective and dynamic practice and will have had the opportunity to explore and discuss ideas and strategies for teaching in their classrooms.
This high level conference targets key decision makers in the Ministry of Education and educational institutions who are involved in policy making and have responsibility for implementing programmes with regard to teaching English to young learners in China. Also invited are teachers and teacher educators from across China, as well as international presenters.
There will be a tour stand beside the registration desk on October 18-19. You can also book your tour at the following website: http://www.tour-beijing.com/
